Entry from: Similan Islands, Thailand Entry Title: "Transparent diving in Similan Islands" Entry: "Similan Islands consist of 9 granite islands and are known to be one of the top diving spots in the world. I signed up with the Pro Dive team in Phuket which focuses exclusively on these islands for 11 dives, including a night dive and 2 days on the boat. After 1h by bus from Phuket going North to Thap Lamu we took a little ferry towards the islands for another hour. We were about 50 people on the ferry and there were 3 or 4 ferry companies operating from Thap Lamu. I started to wonder whether we would see more people than fish down there but was glad to see that I was the only one to be disembarked from this boat to a diving boat while all this gentle crowd was heading towards the islands for some camping or snorkeling. The underworld is still ignored by the masses. Hehe.. I arrived at 10.30am ready for the 2nd dive of the crew. The pro Dive team was excellent: lot of attention and good service attitude, professional briefing, good spirit.. Brilliant. Area for improvement: they should be more rigorous on checking everybody's diving certification. Visibility down there was incredible. At a depth of 25m you could see easily to 25, 30m!! So transparent. Slightly more than on the Great Barrier to my memory ...
